Both skins install the same way
Install guide
Five minutes tops, no technical knowledge required. The steps below apply to Cfmike Blackthorn Flat UI and Cfmike Eden Flat UI alike.
Download the zip
Grab the latest version of the skin for your server:
Blackthorn or Eden.
You get a blackthorn_vX.X.X.zip or eden_vX.X.X.zip file.
Unzip into the DAOC ui/ folder
Open the zip: it contains a custom/ folder. Copy that folder into the
ui/ directory of your Dark Age of Camelot installation, for example:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Dark Age of Camelot\ui\custom\
If a custom/ folder already exists (another skin, or the other one of the two distributed here), back it up or replace it: two skins cannot share the same folder name.
Select the custom interface in game
Launch the game, open the options, interface section, and pick custom in the interface list. Confirm: the UI reloads immediately, no need to restart the client.
Tune the UI with the configurator
Each skin ships a small graphic tool in the custom/ folder. It runs on
Windows without installing anything and rewrites the interface files for you: no XML
editing, ever.
- Blackthorn: double click
Config.bat(game closed). Fonts (five families plus any .ttf you drop in the folder), four global sizes (M to XXL), bar styles Bysan or Atlantis Flat, quickbar variants, healer helper layouts. A .bak backup is written on every apply. - Eden: double click
config.hta. Character sheet layouts, healer helpers, summary and bar sizes, chip colours, square or rounded shapes, fonts, icon sets, compass, and the English or French switch.
Reloading: layout changes (window sizes, labels) reload instantly with
/uiload in game. Texture changes (bar colours, chips, shapes, icons, inventory,
compass) need a full game restart: the client only loads textures at startup. The Eden
chooser tells you which case you are in after every apply.
Troubleshooting
The interface is invisible or scrambled
Check that the folder is named exactly custom and that it
sits INSIDE the ui/ folder.
Configurator options have no effect
Run the configurator again after every UI update, then reload with
/uiload. If the change concerns textures (colours, chips, icons, compass),
restart the game completely: logging out to the character screen is not enough.
A window disappeared after a size change
Window positions are stored by the client, not by the UI. Unlock the interface and look along the screen edges: the window is probably sitting partly off screen.
How do I roll back?
Select the default interface again in the options. Nothing is changed in the game files.
